Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund Set for Thrilling Der Klassiker Clash
Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in a top-of-the-table Bundesliga clash, with both teams level on 17 points amidst key player absences.
Bayern Munich are preparing to host Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Matchday 8 of the Bundesliga. Both German giants enter this highly anticipated 'Der Klassiker' encounter tied on 17 points at the summit of the league table, making this fixture a pivotal battle for sole possession of top spot.
However, both sides will be forced to field altered lineups due to high-profile injuries. Bayern Munich assistant coach Aaron Danks confirmed on Friday that veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss the clash due to foot discomfort, while playmaker Jamal Musiala also remains sidelined. Borussia Dortmund face significant key absences of their own, as captain Emre Can is ruled out with a knee injury alongside midfielder Giannis Konstantelias.
Despite the missing key personnel, the atmosphere surrounding the match remains intense. Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl emphasized the tremendous significance of the rivalry, stating: “It's Der Klassiker. They always challenge and push us. We want to win and build a lead over BVB.”
