Manchester United Retain Manager Michael Carrick Following Crisis Talks
Manchester United hierarchy decided to back Michael Carrick as head coach despite heavy defeats leaving the club 16th in the Premier League table.
Manchester United's executive leadership decided on Tuesday, October 27, to keep Michael Carrick in his role as head coach following intensive crisis talks. The high-level discussions involved chief executive Omar Berrada, director of football Jason Wilcox, and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The board's vote of confidence comes in the wake of a alarming slump in form, capped by a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth in the Premier League and a 4-1 loss to Como in the Champions League. These results have left Manchester United languishing in 16th place in the Premier League standings, a single point clear of the relegation zone.
Despite mounting pressure, Carrick reported to Carrington on Tuesday morning as usual to lead the team's training session. The English manager will remain in charge of the squad for Saturday's crucial Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as he seeks to turn around United's fortunes.
