Bayern Munich reclaimed first place in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 win over Freiburg, managed by assistant Aaron Danks while Vincent Kompany remains in hospital.
Bayern Munich secured a 3-1 away win against SC Freiburg at Europa-Park Stadion on Sunday, October 25, 2026, to reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga. Dayot Upamecano put Bayern ahead in the 16th minute, and Serge Gnabry doubled the lead in the 42nd minute following an assist from Michael Olise. Freiburg were gifted an 82nd-minute goal via an own goal by Tom Bischof, but Olise sealed the victory for Bayern with a third goal in the 95th minute.
Assistant coach Aaron Danks was in charge on the touchline as head coach Vincent Kompany remained in the hospital after collapsing during training on Friday. Following the match, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl praised the team's determination, saying: "Today's victory gives us three points, but it's a far bigger victory than just three points."
