Solanke rescues ten-man Spurs at Old Trafford, Vinícius sent off in Madrid win, Barcelona make it eight — and a huge Sunday ahead
Saturday's three most-searched matches — Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham, Real Madrid 1-0 Villarreal and Barcelona 3-0 Getafe — plus what is on today: Liverpool v Manchester City at Anfield and the Cairo derby, Zamalek v Al Ahly.
Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham. Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 73rd minute from a Matheus Cunha assist, and Tottenham were reduced to ten men five minutes later when Rodrigo Bentancur was shown a straight red card. Spurs still found an equaliser: Dominic Solanke headed in Sandro Tonali's cross in the second minute of stoppage time.
Real Madrid 1-0 Villarreal. Yan Diomande scored the only goal in the 62nd minute, set up by Federico Valverde and confirmed after a VAR check. Vinícius Júnior, on as a substitute, had a goal ruled out and was sent off in the 72nd minute after a VAR review; The Guardian reports the red card was for pulling an opponent's hair. Madrid stay six points behind Barcelona.
Barcelona 3-0 Getafe. Anthony Gordon scored after two minutes — his first league goal for the club — Gabriel Jesus added the second on the half hour and Jules Koundé finished a Lamine Yamal corner in the 73rd minute. Barcelona have won all eight league matches this season, which the club says equals its best start to a league campaign.
Today, Sunday 11 October. Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield, kick-off 15:30 GMT (18:30 in Mecca and Cairo). In Egypt, Zamalek meet Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium at 17:00 GMT (20:00 Cairo time) in the Egyptian Premier League.
