Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Villarreal in La Liga to remain six points behind league leaders Barcelona. Yan Diomandé scored the winning goal for José Mourinho's side to secure all three points in a hard-fought encounter.
Second-half substitute Vinícius Júnior experienced a dramatic cameo, having a goal disallowed before being sent off following a VAR review for pulling the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. Following the match, Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni expressed his confusion regarding the decision, stating: “I don't know what's going on with the referees, with this red card, I don't understand. But the most important thing is the victory.”
