Portugal Win 4-2 in Denmark Without Ronaldo After He Leaves Camp; Wales Stun Norway 2-1

Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 in Copenhagen hours after Cristiano Ronaldo left the national-team camp, Wales came from behind to beat Haaland's Norway, Argentina opened the post-Messi era 4-0 against Bolivia, and Mohamed Salah will sit out Egypt's friendly with South Africa.

Portugal won 4-2 against Denmark at Parken in Copenhagen in the UEFA Nations League (League A, Group A4) without their captain. Cristiano Ronaldo left the national-team camp on Wednesday after coach Jorge Jesus said he did not plan to start him; Ronaldo had already been an unused substitute in Sunday's win over Norway. In a statement he said that "in due time" he would tell the Portuguese people the truth about the reasons for his departure, and wished his teammates luck. Jesus told Sport TV his conscience was clear. On the pitch, João Cancelo, Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha and João Félix scored for Portugal, with Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Højlund replying for Denmark.

In the same group, Wales beat Norway 2-1 for their first win in Nations League A. Oscar Bobb put Norway ahead from a Martin Ødegaard pass, Daniel James equalised, and Neco Williams scored the winning free-kick after Torbjørn Heggem was sent off. Erling Haaland was kept quiet.

Argentina played their first match since Lionel Messi's international retirement and beat Bolivia 4-0 in a friendly in Córdoba, with goals from Lautaro Martínez, Nico Paz, Cristian Romero and José Manuel López. Messi is due to make one last appearance in a farewell match against Benin.

Egypt captain Mohamed Salah will not play in the friendly against South Africa on 4 October, after agreeing with the coaching staff that he needs rest, according to Youm7 and Cairo24. He had also missed the South Sudan match, which was played on an artificial pitch.
